Glyndebourne Festival
Each summer, from May to August, Glyndebourne stages the Glyndebourne Festival – their flagship season of world-class opera during which audiences can enjoy opera in their state-of-the-art indoor auditorium.
The Festival has a tradition of formal dress, and audience members relish the opportunity to dress up for a day. A key part of the Glyndebourne Festival experience is the 90-minute interval – a chance to enjoy a picnic in the gardens or dinner at one of the three on-site restaurants. You’re welcome to bring your own picnic, or order one to pick up when you arrive (subject to avaialbility).
Glyndebourne all began with a love story in 1934 when founder John Christie met soprano Audrey Mildmay. It is now one of the finest and most celebrated opera houses in the world and delivers performances of the highest quality to some 150,000 people across a summer fesitval and autumn tour.
