Golf Tickets

19/07/10 - The Open 2010: Louis Oosthuizen joins the St Andrews greats

July 18, 2010 by Lawrence Donegan

• South African outsider wins Open by seven shots
• Casey's challenge collapses leaving Lee Westwood second

The little-known Louis Oosthuizen is not little-known any more after today adding his name to the most exclusive list in golf; that of Open Championship winners at the Old Course in St Andrews.

The 27-year-old South African, a 200-1 chance before a ball was struck, hit the front at the Home of Golf on Friday and like Nijinsky he did not look back. He held a four-shot lead this morning and by the time he walked down the 18th fairway and into the most famous cathedral in golf, his advantage had been stretched to seven. One more par and his day was done, his place among the greats secured.

Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods have all won here in modern times and now they have been emulated by a man whose most notable previous victory came at the Andalucia Open this year.

British Grand Prix 2010

07/07/10 - Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button set for British duel

By Sarah Holt

Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton say they will battle it out for victory at Sunday's British Grand Prix but will keep their emotions in check.

The McLaren pair are first and second in the championship and former world champion Damon Hill has warned their friendly rivalry could "boil over".

Button said: "We both know that we are fighting for the championship and we'd love to win our home grand prix."

But Hamilton insisted the pair will not "do anything silly" chasing victory.

The McLaren drivers arrive at Silverstone with two race victories apiece this season and with only six points separating them at the top of the drivers' standings.

"We have respect for each other but we are here to fight against each other to become the best - and we will," insisted reigning world champion Button.

The friendly rivalry between Hamilton and Button was tested on the track at the Turkish Grand Prix when Button passed Hamilton for the lead just after Red Bull team-mates Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel had disastrously taken each other out.

Hamilton managed to re-pass Button to clinch his first win of the season but was initially confused about why the team had allowed Button to overtake him when Hamilton had been told to save fuel.

The pair commented on the matter before going on to the podium to celebrate their one-two for the team, a result they repeated in Canada before finishing second and third last time out in Valencia.

Button, who succeeded Hamilton as world champion in 2009, said they will continue to compete against each other while striving to maintain the harmony within the team.

You are still on time to get your tickets for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit this weekend from 9th to 11th July. To book you British Grand Prix tickets please call 020 7283 4040 or click here.
